  1. My main confusion right now is when I'm setting up the IP address and all of that for the PLC wouldn't I need to get the information of where the PLC is going to actually be used instead of the information from the production facility? Currently the PLCs are going to be sent out with the product they're attached to and used to control them but also send emails whenever alerts are triggered, would it be easiest to use the HMI and let the people plug in all their info for it instead of whatever workaround I would have to figure out or am I misunderstanding how the whole email thing works? I understand that the emails would be sent through our server but wouldn't all the other information have to come from them?
  2. So I just want to preface this all by saying that I am very new to PLC programming and I'm currently trying to self-learn it for work. My current puzzle is that I want to send emails to a select email address when there is an fault in the system that the PLC is connected to, but right now I can't figure out how to send an email at all. I've looked at the help setup for doing this and I've plugged in most of the information that is pertinent but I'm running into two issues, I don't know how to test it and I'm not sure if the IP addresses and all that are correct. I'm currently working on a laptop that is wirelessly connected to the internet and the PLC is connected to power and then directly to the computer. What other connectors do I need in order to enable the PLC to send the emails and is an ethernet card required to do so? Sorry if this is all super basic, it's been very hard to find any kind of information on this and most of the things that I find dealing with the internet/PLC interaction have more to do with changing the program remotely than actually sending emails/information like I'm trying to. Thanks for your time, -Chris
  3. Will the future bring a drag and drop email body element that inserts an ASCII string variable? I've found a work around for what I'm wanting to accomplish via binary text variable and lists of text variable. What I had in my was using store blocks in ladder to load an ASCII string with various messages then IF triggered email would convey the ASCII string message in body. Just a thought. Not sure if anyone else has looked for this as a feature. I guess I got the notion from email construct strategy I once used in Visilogic using Stores, Strings, and string to vector block (admittedly more complicated).
  4. Working on a project where I need to email a zipped CSV file created from Data Sampling. I can structure and send emails with no problem. I can see the CSV file via file browser, but having difficulty sending the attachment. My goal would be to allow the operator to choose from a list of csv files that updates as the files are generated from Data Sampler tests. I have tried to link a tag where you configure the email so you can type in the file name on a key pad text box. the keypad entry does not have some of the characters needed to match the file name (ie. -_ etc.). Has anyone sent CSV email attachments and could point me in the right direction? Thank you for your input
  5. I've done some searching but have not found an answer to this particular problem yet. I have tried configuring my Unitronics PLC to send email, and have followed the instructions for initializing and connecting the socket connection to a gmx email host. However, I have noticed that when I telnet to the mail.gmx.com server through port 465 (the only port I can connect through), I get a connection for only about 20 seconds before it is 'closed by foreign host'. It seems like maybe the port is not correct? I have tried 25 (which does not let me connect) and 465 because I found those ports online. I think the same thing is happening in the ladder code, because i briefly get a successful indication of connection, but then it gets reset. Has anyone seen this issue before? I was under the impression that GMX was a validated email host to use with these PLCs, so am I doing something wrong?
  6. I want GSM modem CINTERION-EHS6T connect to Unistream PLC via USB panel port. Will this allow me to send SMS, send email and acces via VNC, webserver, UNILOGIC etc...? What is the difference betweenBGS2T and EHS6T??? What type of cable do i need for this connection? Thank you
  7. I've setup email but i'm receiving the following error: -1 General COM Error. Please check the physical connections. Note: Not sure if it matters but i'm connected via mobile broadband with static IP. Remote connection with VNC and Unilogic is working fine. I've also tried various DNS setups. Optus Mobile Broadband: http://www.optus.com.au/business/support/answer/fixed-mobile-broadband-ip-addresses-email-tech-settings-ports?requestType=NormalRequest&id=1421&typeId=5 Can anyone elaborate on what this error means and how to fix it?
  8. Hi, I'm getting status 4 while trying to send the alarm log and the data tables via email, I think the issue might be related to the File Name, is this the name that I want to be reflected on the output file(the one to be sent via email) or is this an inside file name?, also I tried sending the Data Sampler but I didn't knew what the folder name was, the folder name for my data table and the alarm log are set automatically
  9. Iv'e set up email and it seems to be working OK but attachments aren't being received in the emails.. I've taken some screenshots from the trends button.. the attachments show in the file browser but they aren't being emailed for some reason. Any suggestions?
  10. email problems

Sorry for all the questions but now I am having trouble with email. Trying to get email to work crashed UniLogic a couple of times and generated the screen to send the report to Unitronics. UniLogic shut down after this so I was not able to generate the report to Unitronics. It looks as though some changes were made to UniLogic since the email Webinar was made. One thing I noticed was that there is no members of the "send email struct" as there were on the webinar: send success, send failure, status. Might that be part of my problem? besides ignorance
