  1. How to create XML (ulri) file in third part application an then import it in Visilogic STRUCT function? I cant find any example of this file...
  2. I have three V430-J-RH6 PLC's, they will be communicating via RS-485. Each of these plc's are running two pumps for that specific unit. My end game is to make sure that none of the units have pumps running at the same time so we don't have power issues, ex. Unit 1 is running a pump so unit 2 and unit 3 cannot run their pumps until unit 1 is finished etc. I know how to program that part in but my struggle at the moment is with how to best get that information to each PLC. I need each PLC to have constant feedback of information from each other PLC. I need each unit to know when the other units are on and off. Is a struct command the best way to do this? If not what is, and how do I implement it? I have looked into the help files on Modbus master and slave for sharing information (read holding registers, and preset holding registers) but it doesn't look like they can share MB's between plc's? I also don't quite understand how those work. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you! 3. Hello, Using UniLogic V 1.21.51, I was hoping to create a 'Template PID' struct containing 'PID AT Params' and 'PID Config types', but these do not appear as options when attempting to add new members. The idea was then to also add some other housekeeping fields to my 'Template PID' struct, and use it as a type to create 24 global tags to manage 24 independantly-controlled oven zones in parallel. Is this possible? I was hoping to avoid having to uniquely name 24 sets of three global struct tags (such as 'PID AT Oven1 Zone1', 'PID Config Oven1 Zone1', 'PID Housekeeping Oven1 Zone1', etc.). Thanks, John.
  4. Good day, Is there a way to clear all data in an entire Struct that includes strings and INTs? I found the Reset Numeric Coil in the Basic Elements tool box but that only works with a single numeric element. I was wondering if their was an easier way to clear the entire Struct. Thanks, Swervomotor
  5. I recently came a cross with a UniLogic application that use large structs. For example, one struct was composed of 80 members, and most of the members type was INT16, like so: In memory the struct look like this: struct MyStruct //struct size is 80 * 4 = 320 bytes { INT32 ID; //size 4 INT16 Val_1; //size 2 CHAR[2] padding1; //size 2 INT16 Val_2; //size 2 CHAR[2] padding2; //size 2 //…. INT16 Val_79; //size 2 CHAR[2] padding79; //size 2 } notice the padding that added to the struct. That's common in software in order to align the memory so work will perform more effectively. This padding cause every 2 bytes in an INT16 type an extra "weight" of 2 bytes – so every INT16 is 4 bytes. One can think that the struct size is 4 + 2 * 79 = 162 bytes, when in fact it 320 bytes, almost two times bigger (!). Now, let's try the next approach: In memory: struct MyStruct_NEW //struct size is 4 + 2 * 79 = 162 bytes { INT32 ID; //size 4 INT16[79] Val_Arr; //size 158 } And we got a struct size 162 bytes, as intended. Just imagine we use struct "MyStruct" in a 3,000 line Data Table, we will waste almost 0.5M bytes (3,000 * 158), while "MyStruct_NEW" waste nothing. For conclusion, when creating structs in UniLogic consider the padding factor in order to reduce your PLC memory consumption.
