  1. Ausman/Kratmel, Thanks to you both! I've just updated to OS 5.04(B64) and the ET2 is working (and also appears in the Info Mode Page 6 Many thanks to both of you for your help! -Steve
  2. Kratmel - many thanks. So, I assume that as my V230's are upgraded to v5.04 B33 by Visilogic, then they can't be upgraded beyond that? (perhaps a hardware limitation?) (in the Info Screen it says Hardware (A) If so, then I guess that as 5.04.33 < 5.4.55 then I can't use the NT2 in these units.... :-( -Steve
  3. There's definitely something odd here. The ET1 works in both of the V230's I have (in that the LED's illuminate, and the ladder logic can initiate it and it then can be used for communication). However, it does NOT appear in the "Info Mode" menu on either unit, unlike the screen captures from kratmel. The ET2 does not work (at all) in my test PLC; I've not yet tried it in the production RTU (I'll try that tomorrow). Kratmel: Do you know if the ET2 works (in ladder) on your unit? (or if the LEDs on the card illuminate)? If it does, then I think I should assume I have a bad card. If it doesn't, I think I have to assume that the ET2 is not compatible with the V230's that I have Ausman: You wondered if this was firmware related. Do you mean the OS version on the PLCs, or something else (the OS's are both the same) Thanks to all for your comments - hoping I can get to the bottom of this -Steve
  4. Took the Ethernet card out of my production PLC, and put it into the new test PLC - worked perfectly. However, I've noticed a couple of things: a) The working Ethernet card is a V200-19-ET1. The one the doesn't work is V200-19-ET2. Could that make a difference? b) With the working Ethernet card in the production PLC, I took a look in Info Mode - and the card doesn't show up there either (but it does work when initialized in ladder) Is it perhaps the case that the ET2 card doesn't work in some V230s? -Steve
  5. Thanks for the quick reply. I've just double checked; all pins are straight and appear to be engaging. I've also noticed that if I plug a CAT45 cable from the card into my switch, no LED's light (at the switch - there don't appear to be any on the PLC end). Sadly, I suspect I have a DOA Ethernet card. I do have one other Vision230 with Ethernet (this one was bought as a spare for that). I'll try swapping the Ethernet cards to determine if that is at fault, but just wanted to determine that I wasn't missing something obvious first. -Steve
  6. Hi, I've physically installed an Ethernet card (V200-19-ET2) into a Vision230. Operating System is 5.04(B33) and hardware is 'A' However, the Ethernet card doesn't appear to be seen. Also, when in Run mode, SB141 Serial Card Exists has a value of zero. In 'Info mode' I see settings for Serial Port 1 Serial Port 2 Serial Port 3 Canbus Badrate The Ethernet card doesn't appear. This is a used Vision230, but does appear to be working ok. The Ethernet card is new Is there something I have to do (other than physical installation) to have the card recognized?) Thanks, Steve
  7. Thanks. I ended up making my own serial cable, which worked perfectly (and was quicker than waiting for one). Just used Rx/Tx/GND (no need for the control signals. Also,if it helps anyone, I used the Digi Edgeport/1 USB/RS232 adapter under Windows7 64bit. Cable and USB connector worked first time! Regards, Steve
  8. Hi Joe, Thanks for your reply! I already have the ethernet address configured (I was able to do this from the HMI panel, having entered the password), and I have Visilogic installed, but can't connect because I don't know the current PLC Name (I can see the value of SDW9, but this doesn't seem to work as the PLCName when connecting over Ethernet - I assume because the code it is running has overridden it. I had wondered if there was a way to completely reset/erase the unit from within the HMI Panel User Interface, restoring the default PLC Name (which I know ) - this would clearly be the quickest solution for me! That said, if the only way to access is going to be over a serial connection I'll buy a cable...I'll shoot you an email in a second). I also need the Phoenix I/O connectors ( I believe part number 1757080-MSTB 2.5/9-ST-5.08) - do you have six of these in stock? Regards Steve
  9. Hi, Just bought a (used) Vision230 which did not come with any accessories. I've managed to set the IP address from the front panel, and it is on my network, but when I try to connect with Visilogic over the network it tells me I have the incorrect PLC Name. The diagnostics page on the HMI doesn't show a PLC name (just the PLC Code Version). It clearly has a program in it, but I believe it's a demo (references Gradient Coil; Cryogen Comp, Facility) as the values are all showing up as good with no I/O - I wondered if this was a standard demo or example, but can't find it in the Visilogic examples (hoping I could find the PLCname this way) Is there anyway to reset or find out the PLCName either from the physical device, or over the IP connection? Worst case I see that I should be able to access the unit over COM1; I don't have a serial cable; on ebay I see a few of the adapters MJ10-22-CS25; I'll get one if I have to but was trying to work out whether the RJ11 cable was straight through (I'd prefer to get an RS232-CB1, which includes the cable). Does anyone know the quickest place to get one at reasonable cost (US) - as I think I'm only using it once! ($20 shipping for a $3 connector isn't that reasonable...) Thanks in advance! Edit 30-Apr-13: I have the password, and have been able to access the information pages from the front panel. Unfortunately the value in SDW9 doesn't appear to be the current PLC Name, and I can't find a "Version" page that shows the PLCName. Is it possible to do a complete reset of the unit to factory settings (then use the value in SDW9 to access the unit over Ethernet?) Steve
