  1. I am interested in emulating a scrolling terminal screen (like the old VT100) Typically 24 lines of 80 characters per line. The HMI Variable TEXT seems to be limited to 64 characters which is much too short for the application. It seems to handle control characters, or at least a limited CR LF so it looks like it could do the display except for the character length limitation. My next option would be using 24 TEXT variables, one for each line. Any better suggestions ? Thanks, Daniel
  2. ETHERCAT is an important interface to support. Very fast and flexible. Wide base of support and growing quickly. Very strong in motor controls - multi axis stuff. Daniel
  3. I agree. A narrow form factor IO would be easy to do by repackaging the modules on edge and moving the LEDs to be visible. Most panel boxes accommodate the depth easily.
  4. How are animations created for the PLC and how are they controlled. The Unitronics Splash screens are great examples of they type of animation I would like to put in my programs. I can not find anything about animation except a moving image HMI variable. These are only useful for simple sliders. One typical method is animated GIF files. This would be a great topic for a Webinar series.
  5. I am getting started with v1040 beta 9.0.0 I has been quite painful really compared to other Unitronics products. I am sure all part of Beta testing. I am using Windows 7 which may be exposing some bugs as well. The usb driver which is auto-downloaded and installed via the Connection > Communication OS > usb tab seems to crash Windows 7 with a blue screen of death. This seems to hapen about every other down load. Tried com1 and com4, 115Kbaud. Switched back to trusty Dynex USB serial adapter and do not have the problem. Had to upgrade the v1040 bios to down load a program to the v1040. This brings up the popup OS upgrade manager window, a nice feature. It would be good to change the warning message about where to plug in the PLC from COM1 to PORT1. much less confusing!
