You can set or reset a bit in number (Under Logic). You can also Test a bit, and decide to either set or reset it (in order to do a toggle), or: Set a bit in the number 0, take the result and XOR it with the number you want to toggle the bit in. The result is the toggle bit result that you expect.

Set the Border Thickness to 0, and the Background Fill to transparent (by either choosing the transparent color, at the bottom left corner of the Stardard color, or by entering 00FFFFFF in the Advanced Color)

You are correct... We will fix this issue on the next version. You can also add elements by double click (and this adds the file selector browser even if the comment is open).
