  1. Good day everyone! I have a little project and I would like to use a Samba 4.3 PLC, but I don´t know if it has I/O modules extra. I need around 25 Inputs and 15 outputs. I hope that you can help me! Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi, I'm in the field and I need to upload a new program onto a Samba PLC/HMI and I completely forgot to bring a USB2CAB200 cable. Would a standard USB to USB Mini that I could pick up from Best Buy or Micro Center work to upload a program or am I going to need the exact same kind that comes with the PLC?
  3. Hello, I have this SM35-J-RA22 PLC and it has this error appearing on it, it was working before it got sent off with a program to a customer and then when switching on for the first time their end, this screen occurred. I've tried having a look through Forums but can't seem to find anything on how to fix this issue on a Samba> Can anyone help? Thanks
  4. Hello! If anyone has any experience or any examples of using the SAEJ1939 Protocol, I would really appreciate some help. I am using a NOx sensor and would like to extract its data to an HMI. I am currently trying to figure out how to utilize the parameters of the J1939 Protocol. I have the values of the Protocol from the user manual but I do not know how to interpret it for the Visilogic Function blocks. For example, to extract the NOx value would I say there are 2 bytes of max data allowed? (Since there a low and high bytes). And for data pointers, does it "point" to the address of a byte or a bit? Also, once the data is received, where would it be stored? And how can I convert it to a readable value? Would I have to convert it from a BIT to a NUM eight times (Since I get a bit of information and not a byte)? I would really appreciate any thought or comments. I have attached the manual, some screenshots, and my program so far. Thanks again. trial j1939.vlp Conti UniNOx12V_spec_11 03 08 (1).pdf
  5. Hi Everyone, I bought the SM35-j-r20 for a new project. I have experience with the unistream models. With that, it was easy to connect via ethernet or USB. But with the Samba (visilogic) I have problems to connect with the plc. I get an communication drive error (206). I use a glodX GXMU-1200 USB to serial converter, with Prolific driver (I've tried different versions) . My baudrate is set to 57600. My OS is Win 11. I hope you can help me. Thank you in advance. Francis
  6. Maybe this is a dumb question...but I'd rather ask than make an even dumber erorr. I'm familliar with discrete inputs, and that they can be sourcing or sinking. Typically I use a Sourcing input and the modulating analog signal (postive voltage, current flow going into the PLC input) is then dropped across an internal load in the PLC and is shunted to the 0 volt reference on an internal buss of the PLC. I've never heard the term applied to an analog input before - but to me, they would also be sourcing inputs, and function in a similar manner. I have a new transmitter to work with and its a 3 wire 4-20 signal. Tech literature with the transmitter shows that it is selectable to be configured for a sourcing or a sinking analog input. I dont see anything in the installation guide of the PLC other than the jumper 12 for selecting sourcing / sinking discrete inputs and the other jumpers for configuring the analog inputs. The diagram in the install guide to me looks like the analog input would be termed as "Sourcing" and that the load resistor is internal to the PLC. I've wired these sucessfully before - Just never came across anything describing an alalog input with these terms. PLC in question is a SM70-J-TA22 thanks
  7. I have recently purchased Samba3.5-J-RA22 and downloaded the visilogic software. I want to learn from examples but most of the examples are not working with my model. Please guide.
  8. Hello, This is my first time trying out a Unitronics PLC. I'm trying to use the analog output to simulate a 4 - 20 mA input. I've watched the youtube tutorial, but I'm trying to use a 4 - 20 mA output instead of a 0 - 10 V output. I'm assuming the process would be similar but I can't get it to work. I have attached some photos of the parameters I've set and of the ladder logic. Is this the correct way to adjust the analog output of the plc? Have I set up the linearization table correctly? Currently all that happens is the analog output changes on the screen with the up and down buttons but nothing else. I will test this output with a meter to verify if there is a 4 - 20 mA output being generated. I have connected the 0V to CM (terminal 4) and to appropriate 0V terminals, the A0 output to AN 2 (Terminal 9). Would this be correct? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards,
  9. I create a timer with MI (Memory Integrer) and MB (Memory Bits) and then I tried to display the current value with the time function. Problem is : the display of the timer is a hexadecimal value. I tried to use others function like "UTC to RTC" or "Numerics" but I don't know how to get the display of the current time and the elapsed time of the timer I made. Wanted display : HH : MM : SS (decimal value) The timer look like : MI 1 : Preset MI 2 : Current MI 3 : Elapsed And there is others nets to manage the proper functionning of the timer. I know that it's possible to use the basic timer already set in the PLC but I don't want to use them.
  10. I have been using Samba now for some years and some of them have started to loos data because of battery low. My question is, is it possible to replace the battery in Samba 3.5 and 4.3 versions with power on? I know it is possible in the 7" by just removing the back panel, but it doesn't look possible on the smaller one, is that the case?
  11. I used SAMBA for retrofit hydraulic machine control. One day on this mobile machine SAMBA screen is damaged. Even with the damaged screen it continued to control the operation of all systems. I was asked to change settings and with Unitronics software I was able to do it without any problems. Finnaly i setup remote settings via software for local staff. I wanted to try to "propose" to apply the already known Unitronics Virtual HMI technology to our most affordable Samba PLCs. By removing the touchscreen and screen from Samba (and integrating WiFi into it), Unitronics could certainly create a solution that competes in the market with smart relays. But it would have a number of advantages that the Visilogic environment gives us. Usually, in a simple control system, PLCs without HMI are sufficient. Virtual HMI control makes such a simple PLC an interesting product. I think creating a SAMBA virtual HMI version is possible. Only HMI side must be replaced by DIN rail mount set. There is no need for any additional cost to change the software before it becomes available on the market. Maybe virtual simulation of different resolution also possible. What do you think about this?
  12. Hi, in my current project I have a button on my touchscreen. If this button is pressed, MB33 is set and afterwards MB 10 should be set too. But, as you can see in the image below, the execution of the net stops before MB10. Basicly I copied this structure out of this tutorial : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RyFPPE3Hdk&feature=youtu.be&t=572 In the tutorial they use the same sequence of contact and coil to turn a "LED" on the touchscreen on and off. Any ideas, why it doesnt work for me?
  13. Hi guys, we have connected our SAMBA to WLAN and can access it now through WLAN with the Visilogic software. Now we want to export data from the Samba through WLAN to a PC. For example when a new User enter his name on the touchpad of the samba, the samba should send this information to the PC. How can we do this? Is there any tutorial on a task like this? Greetings
  14. In one of my projects, I measured the length of the material using an encoder. The customer initially wanted to print the measurement results on a thermal printer (Zebra GK420d) locally and be able to view the status remotely over the network. However, after buying Samba SM35-J-T20 and conducting tests, he wanted to implement reading the order number using a barcode scanner. I could not install the optional com port because it was replaced by a network adapter. After testing with the printer, I found that it only needed two wires GND and TX. The barcode scanner (LS2208 RS232) also work with only two wires GND and RX. By configuring this two devices at the same speed, I was able to connect them simultaneously on the same com port via Protocol FB. For the printer, I used an example posted by Ofir from the topic I think for the readers of the forum will be a useful link to the online label generator http://labelary.com/viewer.html This helps to create a print label quickly and efficiently with minimum PLC requirements.
  15. Good Afternoon Guys Is there any way that i can set the time and date from the HMI on the Samba. I have an application where the HMI/PLC will be shipped internationally and the Samba will be locked down, now as it will be shipped i need a way to set the time and date by the user, this is my first Samba project and up to now its going really well but a few things have stumped me.
  16. I'm faced with a task that I can not implement yet. We have a chemical process that is controlled by a PLC (Samba). It lasts more than 24 hours. If the power fails, then it's possible to continue it normally only for 15 minutes without energy. After a switch-off period of more than 15 minutes, the process must be interrupted. It is clear that I need to copy the clock values to the variable every minute, and then, after re-switching on the power, compare the time passed with the value of 15 minutes. The question is how to calculate the shutdown duration, since the real-time clock goes to 00.00 and it is possible that the process can be shut off exactly at 24 hours and no crash will be recorded. I have seen on the forum a way to determine the length if the distance meter is overflowing. If in my case operate time in seconds then may this method work? Of course it is necessary to take into account the change of days in the calendar. Is there an easier way?
  17. Bonjour, Quelqu'un a t-il déjà piloté ou connecté un moteur PAP sur un système SAMBA? Merci, Didier
  18. I am just designing some equipment, the styling of the device is important. This has lead to the upshot that we want to be able to mount the Samba 7 inch PLC from the back of the enclosure rather than the front. Has anyone done this successfully? How did you design the mounts fittings? The options for materials / manufacture are sheet aluminium or injection mould. Ideally we want to go with bent sheet material as that will help with EMC shielding.
  19. Dear colleagues, i need some support concerning the remote control with an iPhone. My connection is not really stable. I connect the iPhone and after 10-60 seconds the connection fail and I cannot connect to the PLC anymore. So I have to disconnect to the WLAN connection and connect ones more and then it goes, but again only 10-60 seconds. So the question is whether it is an iPhone problem or a general problem with the connection. Or do i have to change the router adjustments? Another oddness is that it is only possible to connect if the IP adress is 192.168.1.1 and this is the same as the router ones. it is a riddle to me how this works. Maybe I need an iOS update? I am thankful for every guess. Best regards Fabian
  20. Hello everyone, I am very new in programming with Visilogic. Everything is fine despite the fact that the coulor of the pixels change if I touch the display. These marks will be deleted if i switch between the screens. I dont know why this happens because it is really annoying but i couldn't found anything on the internet to stop this. I hope someone can help me! Best regards Fabian
  21. I need to get a Samba to send simple wireless data transmissions using a Cinterion EHS6T 3G modem. My program works with a 2G Enfora GSM 1318-50 but not with the Centerion.
  22. Hello, For a project im working on I need to motitor serval energy sources and control multiple relays. I would like to use the Samba 4.3" PLC for giving a nice interface to the system. The problem is that I have over 30 outpust I need to control. I've found a modbus RTU (RS485) energy meter who measures the voltage and current. Also found a modbus RTU (RS485) digital output module with 16 outputs. Is it possible to use the Samba 4.3" PLC with V100-17-RS4 module to communicate over modbus with the IO modules and energy meters? Best Regards, Jelmer
  23. Hello, I am using SAMBA PLC (4.3 and 7.0 as well) for historic car rallies, in order to calculate ideal distance based on time and a given average speed. I have noticed that the RTC has a strange behaviour. I syncronize my PLC RTC with an accurate digital clock, and after a few minutes, I can notice already, a small difference (e.g. 3/10 of a second). But after a while, the two clocks are syncronized again. I tried also the following. I used the SB 15, which comes true 10 times per sec, and I increase a ML15 every time SB 15 is true. In parallel, I created a bit (MB6) which comes true, every time the RTC seconds change. Based on it, I increase ML10 by 10 this time. I compare those 2 values every second. If everything was ok, the difference of these values should always be 0, or at least something fix, but in fact I see that this difference is changing, from 0 to 5 (means max difference 0,5 sec) Why this occurs, and is there anyway to avoid it? In fact I need an accurate RTC, which will always be synchronized with the rally organization clock. Thank you in advance
  24. I have been tasked with developing a centralized server that will communicate with many Samba PLCs around the world. Specifically, I need to ensure that the server can contact any PLC and 1) get a copy of the current values or 2) instruct the PLC to change a value. I want to ensure that the PLCs only communicate with the server, no other computers. The data itself is not considered secret, so the fact that VisiLogic does not appear to offer encryption is not a problem. But, it is critical that only the server be allowed to update PLC values. It is simply unacceptable that another person could connect and update values, even if it would take quite the effort to accomplish that goal. Is there any way to ensure that the PLC's will only respond to requests/instructions from our centralized server? If I send a password, as a message, that password would not be encrypted, so others could see and use it. Is there anyway to securely connect to a Samba PLC, using VisiLogic? The server will know the PLC name and the IP Address, but once again, this would be transmitted unencrypted. Is there a way to program the PLC's to only accept connections from certain IP Addresses? In summary, I want to ensure that the PLCs will listen for communication from our server, they will send current values when requested, they will update their values when told, and they will ignore any requests from others. Is this possible? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
  25. Six year winning streak! We are very proud to announce that Samba 7" joins the ranks of Unitronics’ products that have been honored by Control Engineers’ Choice Award. Samba won the award in the category of Hardware – integrated HMI controllers. Read more about it here.
