Hello I have a new project that will undoubtably be my most challenging to date. The valve automation & other parametr control will be simple enough, but I will need to provide the end user the ability to enter production plant Operator User Names and then give those operators the ability to enter a unique password when they tell the system to reset an alarm etc. Local Managment at my customer's faclity will need a seperate ADMIN login to edit the Operator Names and assign the passwords. I've used basic numeric passwords before, that was fairly simple; however they have all been static with no ability to have the end user to edit same from the HMI. I'm thinking that I should be able to accomplish this with using the ASCII string &/or password string function to store these Alphanumeric values from an admin setup screen, and then the users will need to enter their password in the appropriate boxes and have a comparison function block to evaulate if the entered value is correct. I would be using a Vision series PLC. Probaby Vision 700 or Vision 1210. I have not done any development as yet, still waiting on a PO - but this is the main thing on this project that gives me pause and I wanted to see if I was on the right path or not. thank you Jeff

@Cara Bereck Levy, I just signed up for the new forums and was very quietly screaming in my head the entire time because I did it on my hotel's unsecured Wi-Fi. It looks like the Unitronics website's security certificates are assigned to your Cloudflare transparent proxy rather than your unitronics.com domain. When any modern browser sees that, it warns users that your website is insecure and they should not proceed. Fortunately (well, not really), most people won't ever see that warning, because your Google preferred search domain and DNS listing bring anyone looking for Unitronics straight to the http:// website. Even if you manually go to https://forum.unitronics.com, as soon as you click any link you're back at the insecure, http://forum.unitronics.com website. If you sign up or sign in from a public hotspot, that means the entire exchange is sent in clear, easily sniffed/intercepted, insecure plaintext that tells anyone who might be doing evil things what your email and password are. Hopefully nobody has ever done that with a password they reuse for online banking or anything important! Could you let your IT folks know that they may want to look at the website setup?

Of course, all of those passwords should be different. Can someone suggest a way to do this? Thank you in advance

Hi, I'm using U90Ladder and jazz JZ20-R31. Everything was fine for a while - i was uploading and downloading projects with no problem and everything worked fine. Until suddenly when i tried to download a project i was asked for a password. (PLC is locked! Please enter password..) I never enabled any password protection, and never before was asked to enter it...where did this come from? I have no idea what is the password or how to unlock it now? What to do? Thank you, regards, Pawks
