Carlson Posted November 25 Report Posted November 25 Hello all, I've been struggling for a few hours while trying to setup a Unitronic servo drive and motor. The servo drive is a UMD-0004B-E3, the motor is a UMM- 0004BA-B4. It's connected to the PLC (USC-X5-TA30) via EtherCAT module (UAC-01EC2). When following through the setup manual for the drive, I am able to jog the motor forward and backward and change the speed using the little buttons on the drive. In the PLC (controlling Online with my PC), none of my jog commands seem to work. I can enable to drive and reset the drive from the ladder logic. When sending a jog command from the PLC, the motor does not spin. The diagnostic tool says that the motor is in "Continuous motion". All of the movement commands seem to have this same problem. If my problem is that I need to update the drive firmware, what cord/terminal on the drive do I connect to? I'm new to Unitronics and am sure that I've missed some sort of parameter or misunderstand how the motor control commands work. Any help is appreciated! I've attached the file to this post. Have a good thanksgiving! dummy2.ulpr
Carlson Posted November 26 Author Report Posted November 26 Update: Talked with Unitronics support and was able to fix the issue. Here's some of the things that we had to do: 1. Use the USB port on the Servo Drive to update the drive in Unilogic. 2. Using a flash drive (FAT32), update the EtherCAT module. 3. Disable the forward and reverse Run Prohibited bits on the Drive 4. Make sure the diagnostics tool wasn't running at the same time as the ladder instructions. 5. I didn't realize that you could pull up the headless PLC's HMI using VNC. I hope this helps!
Carlson Posted November 26 Author Report Posted November 26 Oh, and bonus tip: Don't name your instances of motor control functions the same name as the function.
