Remote Internet Access to Web Server on PLC

Hi!,
I was reading some topics at this forum and i saw something about a way to connect an unitronic PLC to internet and have remote access using the current IP address of the modem and the port configured at the PLC? Does that proceed? IF it does, the port configuration is set on the Web Server Menu (like below)?

I would not open your PLC to the internet directly.

Look at either getting a VPN solution on your network or accessing through a secure computer connection and then a simple Tight VNC connection to the PLC.

That is a good advice, but it is possible to connect using that method that I wrote above?

Yes, it is possible.  I've done this using port forwarding in Sierra RV 50 cellular modems.  You will need something that presents a static IP to the Internet.

Roger, i went to PLC site and tested myself, awesome features, but like the Sr Dierkens said, isn't very safe indeed.

A good and safe way to have internet remote access via Webserver or VNC is to use a VPN router with integrated cloud service.

There are various options available such as Ewon, Tosibox and MBconnectLine products.

I`m trying to connect a UNISTREAM USP-156-B10 to internet . I have opened a port in my router and redirected it to port 80 of PLC. I have a static IP. It is necesary any additional configuration in Web Server to connect Internet?

Just to be clear - you have a static IP assigned to your account on the Internet side of things, right?  Are you using a cable system, DSL, fiber, or cellular to get your service?

If you don't have a static IP on the Internet, you will have to configure your router to use a Dynamic DNS service if it is capable of that.
