MVP 2023 Ausman Posted May 26 Author MVP 2023 Report Posted May 26 There's close, and then there's really close. Had to admire this one...... https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-05-26/light-plane-emergency-landing-sydney-bankstown/103895096 😨
MVP 2023 Ausman Posted June 7 Author MVP 2023 Report Posted June 7 I've been resolving a "no-history" problem at present, but I didn't need my computer to confirm it! cheers, Aus
MVP 2023 Ausman Posted July 20 Author MVP 2023 Report Posted July 20 There's a host of worldwide witty comments on the IT stuffup, but I like this one the best...at present... 1
MVP 2023 Ausman Posted August 5 Author MVP 2023 Report Posted August 5 In using one of my older PCs to do something, I was again reminded of how the likes of XP did some things so much better. One click for things that now take 4, windows remembering their sizes and locations without an additional program needed that is always a bit hit and miss, simple programs that just do what they need to do without any extras, etc etc. But the real memory jolt was old screensavers. They were needed back then to stop screen burn, but have been lost..... and some aspects of these I'd shifted to deep recesses of my memory. Quirky stuff that seems to have gone away in favour of slideshows etc. Remember 3D pipes? For those youngies who don't even know what I'm talking about, put the attached sspipes.scr into Sys32 and run from there, just for a look at it. And here's the EXTRA fun bit...if you run it long enough your brain will notice a very, very, very occasional oddity...a junction will be a teapot! I remember the first time I noticed this and thought I was going nuts, as it disappeared quickly due to the restart once the screen was full. cheers, Aus sspipes.scr 1
MVP 2023 Flex727 Posted August 6 MVP 2023 Report Posted August 6 Thanks for this! By the way, in case you didn't notice, you can right-click on the file and select "Configure" to change certain aspects of the pipes.
MVP 2023 Ausman Posted August 6 Author MVP 2023 Report Posted August 6 Yes....but there's no "teapot" available as a junction! I've always pondered what else might be lurking there for other shapes, but it would be such a big time consumer. As a side issue, noticed how the right click STILL works? Like so much other stuff, the original basics of Windoze are still in play, just often hidden by "more user friendly" links. eg run control. Bleagh..
MVP 2023 Ausman Posted August 15 Author MVP 2023 Report Posted August 15 In reading an article on a site I don't normally use due to it's constant over-reactions to anything, I came across this great typo. I reckon I'd be an excellent vaulter with 11,000 volts up my bum. Especially with some plasma balls! cheers, Aus
MVP 2023 Ausman Posted September 18 Author MVP 2023 Report Posted September 18 It's been a while so here's a few to make you gag, or use on your kids..... My friend David has lost his ID. Now we just call him Dav. I've been reading a book about anti-gravity. I could just not put it down. My wife's birthday is coming up and she's been dropping hints by leaving jewellery magazines around the house. So I bought her a magazine rack. What happens if a duck falls into a concrete mixer? You get quacks in the concrete. I got pulled over by the cops this morning, and they asked me lots of questions and if I had a police record. I said no, but I do have a Sting CD. I think I'd better stop now. But wait, there's a long one....maybe tomorrowwwwww. cheers, Aus 1
