  1. Hi;

    I did have a Blank program in the PLC before I did the Upgrade - Found that our a few versions ago, best to download a blank program into the PLC and recycle power before doing the upgrade.

    And Yes, having the older version of Univision available on another computer is very handy during the process.

  2. Hi;

    I upgraded my 10 inch UniStream to the new release 1.8.51 and have a couple of things to share :

    The upgrade in OS in the PLC had a problem and restart got stuck in Initialization.

          I got mine recovered and let support know what I did,

          Maybe support should inform us the "better" way to do it.

    In my program, I have an Imbedded Data Table with data preloaded- a lookup table.

       During the upgrade from old version to new version rebuild, the data table was either wiped or not rebuilt.

       I ended up going to another computer with the older UniLogic, saving the data table to an Excel file and then importing  the file into the upgraded project.

       Just to note also :  imbedded data  tables with fixed data are not automatically downloaded to the PLC during a download. They have to be manually loaded.

  3. I too had similar issues with setting up Visilogic in Windows 8.

    What I finally did , and got things to work was  to  change the security properties on the Visilogic.exe in the Main directory.

    Be sure you have  Administrator Permissions

    C:\program files\unitronics\unitronics Visilogic_C\main                     ( yours may be  slightly diffferent)

            Right click  on   Visilogic.exe

              goto Properties on the Dropdown

                 First open the tab  for Compatability and check off   fo rWindows XP Mode

                      and also click on the   Change settings for ALL users.

                  Second open the security tab

                       examine  the security settings for each user

                              IF they doe not have FULL Controll as  ALLOWED, edit the user to give  FULL CONTROL

            I also did this to the Visilogic Version Swapper.exe

    Once I got this done. I used Visilogic Version swapper to  setup the version , the program worked.

    I even managed to get 3 versions of Visilogic Loaded ( 9.5  9.6  9.7) and functional thru Swapper by making sure the Visilogic.exe  security settings were changed.

    Another note :  I also had to change my USB-Serial Adapter cable because the drivers for my other ones would not support Windows 8

                                 ( Some Prolific Chip versions will not work with Windows 8)

                            Ended up getting a cable that specified to was compatable with Windows 8  and it works

  4. Hi James;

    In the Properties Block for the Button ( Lower Right Part of UniLogic Screen)

     Look for Actions( normally at the top of the List)  and open

    Then  Add New Action  -- Set bit   and link it to the ladder variable.

    You can Set the Ladder Bit when  button is pressed, and reset the Bit when button is released  (or do the reset in the ladder)

    Actions can also call  Screen jumps, set VNC Connection, and others

  5. Hi;

    I am using this VNC program :

        http://www.realvnc.com/download/viewer/

    Download the version for your computer OS

    Put it on the desktop.  There is no install program, it just  runs when you open it.

    It will ask for the IP Address,   try   204.225.158.195    :  The connection is NOT Encrypted

         -- This a is a UniStream I have hooked on the Internet

             It has the Unitronics Unistream Demo Program with a screen I did for myself

                ( it has a UID-0808R   and a  UID-0402N Modules attached feeding outputs back to inputs)

        You can operate the screen like it having the PLC in front of you.

        If I see that you are online( The PLC in on my desk) I will interact with you.

       What we also found out is that more than 1 can be on at the same time -- an interesting feature for some applications.

        It will be up for a a day or so.

    You cannot see the program or the logic.

    Questions for Unitronics Support:

    Can this be made into a secure connection? How?

    Is there a way , other than thru Unilogic to view the variables like in Remote Access in Vision Series?
