Serial modem be used as an rs232 port

I have a vision 570 that was programmed (by at least 3 persons from looks of code). Can't get Ethernet or modem config setups to work. Looked easy in webinar videos.. 2 ways in which will work on this 570 is the  USB port and the rs232 ports. If i can get the modem (airlink raven XT) set up right i can get this unit online remotely. (boss will be happy). The Airlink raven has this real nice webpage based config screen. I just need to know the setup for all the screens.  Speed, verbose, dtr, cts, TCP, handshakes and such.

I have got OK to come up on the sniffer screen when reboot and did have gibberish come up earlier on one setting when I used remote operator to request ID.

The visilogic does not like the modem for some reason (maybe because it needs the right initialize commands)

Hi,

Unitronics Vision series supports a limited selection of modems. Unfortunately, Airlink Raven XT is not one of them. It is possible however, to define a custom modem with your own AT commands.
