V430 and speed measurement

HI,

I have one project that I have to measure speed of the hydraulic motor 0-10000 rpm.

For measuring I would like to use Inductive sensor that has 3kHz switching frequency.

Is it possible to do with V430 and High speed input?

Hi kikitron,

for 10000 rpm (when 1 pulse per rotation generated) maximum frequency is 10000/60=167.7 Hz.

Any model of V430 can count pulses.

Some  PLCs have max. input frequency 200 kHz, others - 30 kHz.

Yes I Will have 1 pulse per rotation.  This is my firs project with unitronics V430 and I hope that I Will manage to write a program today.

Are there any examples for this kind of aplications that can help me with programming?

If I can recommend, there is a nice example of High Speed frequency meter in VisiLogic under menu: Help --> Examples --> Version 900 --> Project Examples --> HSC_HSO --> Frequency Precise meter. Program is written for V570 but it will work for V430 also (some changes in hardware config required). Good Luck!
