Connecting to Modbus Client

Recommended Posts

It appears that I MUST hard code the client IP in order to use the native Modbus Functions.  Otherwise, I am forced to use UDF's to access my Clients, and poll these through ladder to get values.  Is this correct?

Many times, the IP is unavailable, or Multiple identical controllers running the same program are supplied to customers. Currently,  each program must be individually modified  and uploaded to the HMI/PLC.  Each of these HMI/PLC must be identified so installation occurs at the given machine.  Much easier to simply changing a stored IP address for the slave.

I would much prefer to use native Modbus functions.  Will this be addressed?  Is there a technical reason you do not allow the ModBus Client IP to be configured via ladder and HMI?
