dierkens Posted September 25, 2019 Report Posted September 25, 2019 Is it possible to have MODBUS TCP (Ethernet) via the CPU Ethernet? I have two separate networks I'm using. My PLC needs to get data from a DCS via MODBUS on a 172.17.100.xxx network and a computer needs to get the MODBUS data from the Unitronics PLC via a 172.16.100.xxx network. Can I do this or do I need to find another solution?
M M Posted November 4, 2019 Report Posted November 4, 2019 You may be able to do this by changing the subnet of the PLC, DCS and computer to be 255.0.0.0. But most people with a concern for cybersecurity would say do not do this. A gateway or router would be required to do this to maintain some integrity of the other networks.
