Finding flow rate

All i have questions about finding flow rate from a flow meter?  it  can read  462 pulses per gallon with a Range of .26-16 gallons per minute  or 120.12-7292 pulses per minute  i want to display gallons per minute . I have MI-3 as a Frequencey measurment at 1000ms or 1 sec . so i took MI-3x60 that is pulses in 1 second x 60  to get its rate per minute then linearized it  in  0-7292 for 0-16 gpm. is this a good way to find flow rate?
