  1. >Well after some investigation and monkeying around it was found that the "Silver" theme I had chosen didn't jive well with Visilogic and literally caused many things not to display (including the little pixel location box). ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!<

Really? wow--I had never heard that. We have a couple of R&D people who are colorblind and don't use the standard themes, and I don't recall anything like that.

I'll pass this one to the appropropriate peoplle.

  2. Hi John :)

My bad--I'm generally the one that listens here--sorry!

The password functionality is not likely to be developed in the Built-in Webserver any time soon--there are not many requests for it. As far as the Advanced Webserver--I will look into it. I can't promise support, because it is an application developed by a third party, but I will try. I haven't heard of this issue before.

  3. I've been poking around in Windows 7 and found the problem. In the Display settings there is a setting for text size. This, of course, is not new to Win7, but at least on my computer, it defaults to "Medium - 125%" instead of 100%. this had the effect of increasing the font size in Visilogic. I hadn't checked this because I had never changed it and assumed the default would be normal size rather than larger - stupid me. This may also have an impact on the delay times when moving or deselecting HMI elements - I'll check and report back.

It does seem odd that the default on a laptop would be 125%.

I would be very interested to know if this affects the delay time.

  4. I'm getting a significant number of requests these days from people wanting to view the PLC screen on their iPad / iPhone. Large corporations seem to be leaning towards Apple as their standard because Apple controls the O/S and the App store.

I'm sure this is something that has crossed the Creator's minds. Any comments?

    Joe T.

    Hey Joe :-)

We have been investigating the possibilities; I can’t promise anything--but you may see something in the not-too-distant future.

  5. Cara left out all the whining, complaining , and groveling I did.

That is because it was spectacular-- I am saving it all for my upcoming soap opera "A Technical Life"... :P

I originally simply asked that R&D check into why the connection times were taking so long and see if it was just a matter of some time delays being set too conservatively. I was given the impression that it ended up being more time consuming than was originally anticipated. I never expected the development of new FBs.

Yes--I was joking with the 'he asked' bit.

The truth is that while we were checking, it seemed that there was an easy way to overcome the issue with FBs...but, as often happens, it turned out to be more complicated than we thought. Still, we (meaning the R&D team) learned from the process, so we did benefit from it--and Damian got new FBs :)

  6. Guys--hang on a little bit, please.

How did you get your paws on these?

    Joe T.

    He asked me :)

Seriously, Damian wrote to us regarding a specific problem, and we developed specific functions. We did not release them with a version because they have not been fully tested by us, although Damian has--apparently--been using them.

I am waiting for one of the OS cowboys to peek into the code and tell me if these functions are supported with the most recent OS, or if you have to use the specific OS that was released with those functions.

(I checked: yes, the current OS does support them)

As far as revealing them in VisiLogic:

    Disclaimer:

Please note that these functions have not been fully tested, and that Unitronics bears no responsibility for their use.

Simply open the OPLC.ini file, then add a row:

    6300=1

That should do it. You will see the Fast Connect functions under Com>TCP/IP, under the Close: TCP function.

    Note:

‘Connect Within’ is a timeout value: the program scan stops until either:

-the connection is made (and if it is made in 1 MICRO-Second, the scan will continue after 1 micro-Second)

    Or

-the ‘Connect Within’ time has elapsed.

You’ll want to monitor the relevant socket SB, of course.

I'm afraid that is the extent of the information I have.

  7. Keith, you should be able to upload a program--please try again, and pm me if you have problems.

There was a recent update of the forum platform and some resultant weird stuff happened...

    >If you find you are melting down the pliers to cast them in to the shape of a socket wrench then it has probably gone too far...<

At that point, apply sledgehammer... :P

Although I find some of the workarounds people come up with to be amazing.

  8. Joe T. The burnt offering line almost killed me. That was Keyboard #8, I think... :D.

Keith, have you tried using the Gallery, up in the top bar? That is really intended for pictures, the attachments are mainly intended for attaching programs. You should be able to create an album, and link form there.

If you have any difficulties with that, contact me (and sorry for the lag, I'd already left for the weekend!)

  9. Have you:

    - Gone to battle a automated machine project with drawn sword--and won?

    - Done a complete system retrofit that would make your mama proud?

    - Finished a turnkey control application with a leftover budget so large that your bank is asking you for a loan?

Seriously--if you've done something cool using Unitronics products, tell us about it! We are now collecting application stories to be published in 2012.
