2rlp Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 Hi, Wishing all the members A Very Happy & Prosperous New Year 2013 Is it possible to configure 2 numbers V570 as a redundant PLC? The client needs a redundant PLC & redundant power supply. Thanks for your replies Ron
MVP 2023 Joe Tauser Posted January 7, 2013 MVP 2023 Report Posted January 7, 2013 You could achieve this by using all CANbus I/O and copying the relevant values from the program to the "backup" V570 every scan if possible. The backup would have a nearly identical program but would have to monitor the primary and have logic to take over the CANbus if it sensed the primary went offline. With that said, you need to determine if your client will tolerate a "hiccup" in the system if the primary goes offline and it takes a few scans for the backup to take over. If he can't, then you need what is called a "hot-standby" system which uses a special processor to handle a bumpless transfer. Unitronics does not offer such an animal, and I wouldn't trust myself to write a program and pass it off as such. Hope this helps. Joe T.
2rlp Posted January 7, 2013 Author Report Posted January 7, 2013 Thanks Joe. The client has now clarified that they would accept onle GE Fanuc or Allen Bradley

NSGANESH Posted November 9, 2021 Report Posted November 9, 2021 Hi Team Ganesh here, This topic still in live...? I am looking for Unitronics (unistream) PLC redundancy function..? Any suggestion ..?
MVP 2023 Joe Tauser Posted November 9, 2021 MVP 2023 Report Posted November 9, 2021 It would still be a roll-your-own memory copying solution. Unitronics has not offered a redundancy card. Joe T.
