Due to the Topology of the proposed system, the method of communication will be Modbus Serial RTU. Anyone done this before? MVP 2023 Joe Tauser Posted January 20, 2015 MVP 2023 Report Share Posted January 20, 2015 I've never done Red Lion, but I have used other Modbus I/O modules. The trickiest part is building a stable RS-485 network. The Unitronics recommendations on the location of terminating resistors doesn't always work, as cable length can have a lot of effect on signal levels. If you connect your modules and you can't see them try turning on and off the terminator at the PLC and at the end of the run. Joe T.
