Referring to http://www.modbus.org/docs/Modbus_over_serial_line_V1.pdf Number of nodes will be up to 247. (node ID 1 to 247). 1 node is Master. Number of Slaves will be 246. Regular Hardware Transievers reliable supports up to 32 nodes in parallel. So, number of slaves is up to 31. Not so far from what Joe say. B.R.
