hotwires
I have several SLC500 w/ 5/05 CPU’s on ethernet to PanelViews and Wonderware; is there a way to replace panel views with UNISTREAM panels as HMI’s. I would like to keep program and I/O intact. Thanks
MVP 2022 Ausman Posted July 5, 2018 MVP 2022 Report Share Posted July 5, 2018 Hi Hots, I thought someone else might have chimed in, but alas no. So my thought is to do it all via modbus etc. But it would involve changing the SLC program to allow it to do bus work, which you may not like to do as it does fall outside your "keep it intact" requirement. However, I don't think it would be that hard to have enough talking going on for a perfectly ok solution the way you want. Essentially view the SLC as a modbus I/O. cheers, Aus

Additional hardware like a Prosoft MCM-3150 would be required? Sounds like the answer to the question "Is there a simple way to make a Unistream panel communicate with an AB SLC5/05" is.... NO. John_R
I know this takes us out of the realm of Unitronics-Land, but there is company called AdvanceHMI that offers free software to build an HMI in VB, and run it on a PC/Tablet/industrial Panel PC. It includes drivers for different flavors of A-B comms as well as others. https://www.advancedhmi.com/ JohnR
