MVP 2023 Flex727 Posted August 22, 2016 MVP 2023 Report Share Posted August 22, 2016 One issue I find extremely annoying is that when I copy a variable that allows a keyboard entry (timers, numeric, ASCII variables, etc) the description field, which shows up as the prompt on screen for the operator, is deleted and replaced with a generic "Variable nnnn". I understand this field is used to establish some form of unique name for these variables, but how about leaving the description in place and just appending "(nnnn)" so that it is easier for the programmer to get the right description in the field?
Gabriel Franco
Instead, I would add a prompt field, which may be blank or whatever programmer decide. Also in the popup window, would show automatically min and max values, so the operator knows the variable valid range.
MVP 2023 Ausman Posted August 23, 2016 MVP 2023 Report Share Posted August 23, 2016 Hi all, Although I am not as affected by this as slightlyloopyatthisstage Flex, I can see how it would be frustrating if you are doing it endlessly. Perhaps another solution would be the addition of a variable list via another tab on the outputs area screens. One could then go through the variable list and copy/paste, using all the innate abilities there, or do other names prior to needing them. You would then have a dropdown listbox in the variable screen for easy choosing of the already named variable, similar to the existing method of choosing MIs, SBs etc. cheers, Aus
