  1. JohnR, what you are describing is classic case of what I have banged on about before. I suggest you have a good read of this post/topic and fiddle with the .evb. http://forum.unitronics.com/topic/6478-connection-problem/?do=findComment&comment=26158 What I have found in the past is that the evb file for Remote Access doesn't actually relate that well to the one that is used by other programs. It seems to sort of stand alone in the way it works, even though it appears to reference the main one as well. I mentioned it in here: http://forum.unitronics.com/topic/4114-sd-card-explorer-to-remember-file-locations/?do=findComment&comment=27718 cheers, Aus
  2. That's all good stuff, John. Have you noticed this question from Stembera (Michal) ? You might be the best source for an answer at present! http://forum.unitronics.com/topic/7552-internet-and-sms-send-from-one-device/?tab=comments#comment-31260 cheers, Aus
  3. Hi Michal, have a look here and perhaps give John a heads up via PM. http://forum.unitronics.com/topic/6836-gsm-modem-4g-help/?do=findComment&comment=30968 cheers, Aus
  4. Yep, same as those people who don't see the big sign in Fire Engine Red that says "Do Not Turn This OFF Under Any Circumstances", which is above/over/in front of that crucial switch that we all have found in the wrong position in our work travels. 🚫 🔌 cheers, Aus
  5. C'mon Sam, we all do silly embarassing stuff now and then. Tell all! cheers, Aus
  6. Hi Brian, I moved your post into the correct forum area. Please read the pinned topic in this part of the forum, "Vison Bricked...." http://forum.unitronics.com/topic/6069-vision-bricked-issues-and-how-to-resolve-originally-was-v570-57-t20b-j-bricked/ Please also ensure that you are using Visilogic installed using Right click run as Admin, and that once installed the visilogic.exe is also set to run as admin. If you did not do this, uninstall completely and do it again. cheers, Aus
  7. I'm not normally one to laugh at other's misfortunes, (and I never tell fibs) but this one did make me slapstick chuckle every time I saw it. Wait for it. bikecover.mp4
  8. I might be misreading something here, but aren't your ports different? 20257 vs 502 Also, what happens if you split up your SB2 rung a fair bit. Don't do everything related to an SB2 call in one rung. ie try just the TCP stuff in one rung, SD PWD in another etc. It looks like it should work ok, but in practice perhaps there is too much going on. A favourite saying here is that Unitronics doesn't charge for rungs. Splitting things into separate rungs often makes trouble shooting much easier as well. cheers, Aus
  9. Kratmel, I'd love to see what comes up on SI113 if the cable only has a suspect data line. I can't experiment on this concept due to only keeping non-usb models. Many gizmos only seem to see the power lines as proof of connection. Vaguely knowing the Kratmel WorkCave, I think you could play with this concept quite easily to find the answer! ⚡ Cheers, Aus
  10. HI all, some of you may have seen the recent posts about terminal block sizes. Thought I'd relate what happened to me in the last week. Went to a site where I needed to do some direct modbus work, so got the relevant computer and my Shentek adapter and cables. Haven't needed to do this for many months and puter has been used on other things since. Got to the site, hooked into the modbus loop and nothing coming up. Huh?!! Check cable, check connections, ensure adapter showing leds, try again. Nup. What?!! Maybe Windoze has changed the driver without me knowing? Check in device mangler (did you like that new Ausman terminology?!!) and lo and behold Windoze has changed the drivers back to what it prefers. Don't know how or when this happened, I'm very careful about this, so changed it to the one that I know works, in this case FTDI 16/8/17 2.12.28.0, rebooted and things should be right. Nup, ohh.....hang on....one thing on the loop is there, no it isn't, yes it is, but not the rest. What is going on? Maybe some damage has been done in the loop somewhere? In the end I had to give up on what was one part of a full day's work. Did all the other stuff and finished. Have to come back. Grrr. 100kms. In the evening in the Auscave checked things out again. It was then that I noticed that perhaps I didn't have the original Shentek terminal block in use. It's a 5 pin the same as the Unican port and a host of other thingamebobs I use. Looked very carefully at this with the magnifiers, and discovered that it would seem that not all 5 pin types are the same. See the attached pics. You can clearly see that the connectors allow for different size pins and method of clamping onto them. So I again went down taking a variety of blocks, along with what I thought was the original fitting already in place, which somehow Mr. AusGoose had changed over at some stage without thinking too much about it. Connected in again and whammo......straight into everything. Unbelievable! Morals? 1). Check drivers all the time. Windoze still seems to change drivers on me, even though I've very seriously told it not to. 👮‍♂️ 2). On portable gear, label original terminal blocks so that they stay with that piece of gear. 🏷️ 3). Check before you leave for the job. "But if it worked last time and I haven't fiddled with anything, it should work again, right?" "Not you correct thinking, young Luke. Change the connector, you!" 😖 cheers, Aus (PS. Before some of you smarties say the reason I had trouble with the connector was because it was a 10 pin trying to go into a 5 pin socket, for some reason my photos of both 5 pin types had contrast issues and wouldn't show properly, hence the 10 for comparison. 🙂)
  11. To me this sounds like the cable or socket is a bit suspect. Even though it works on another plc, there is not much room for error on usb pins and perhaps the ones on the offending 350's socket are slightly distorted and not connecting properly to the cable you are using. Or the cable pins are the same issue. First try another cable. If no luck, with power off and a very fine hook probe, you can sometimes "tweak" usb pins in sockets and plugs. cheers, Aus
  12. I had some delicious honey on my toast this morning. Later, as I walked past the hive where it came from, I said “Thank you bees for making the best honey in the world!” One shouted back “lt's good, but I wouldn't say it's the best in the world". Must have been a humblebee.
  13. I think most of you probably already know the first rule of the Assumption Club.
  14. Ohhh yeah, another thing, Can anyone suggest a way for me to remember what a mnemonic is? cheers, Aus
  15. Very cute and looks like you have detailed it beautifully. A bit hard to show them, but the oldest things I have are gizmos that use cassette tapes as storage. Soooo much more advanced than silly old punched tapes! 🧻 And so easy to get a complete stuff-up. ☹️ cheers, Aus
  16. HI kvlada, no-ones actually posted it yet, just done some 'likes'. Well....I'm posting to say that I think all the stuff you've recently done as topics is great. Well done. cheers, Aus
  17. I see that, I was more concerned he was using it in a repetitive socket change situation that might have been creating issues by things happening concurrently, hence the clarification wanted. cheers, Aus
  18. Alex, for what it's worth, I have complained to Cara recently about navigation issues on the website and she is chasing it. It is often hard to use with inadequate progressions on pages. From what I gather it is all undergoing significant change, but so far it hasn't been so great. PLC users just want information as quickly as possible. Not any pretty pictures, or links on pages that go to locations that have nothing to do with what they are looking at. For example, if I have reached this page: https://www.unitronicsplc.com/programmable-controllers-vision-series/ I am obviously interested in Vision systems and would like all the info I need to be on that page. On the right there is a scrolling box, (that sometimes doesn't work properly anyway) that lists "Our Control Products" which really is a bit pointless as I am obviously only looking at Vision. If you click on I/O & Com Modules in the box, quite rightly believing that this is the missing Vision link you are looking for in wanting all the Vision related I/O and Comms expansions, it actually takes you to UniStream stuff and nothing else. The site needs work so that info is easily obtained, without lots of pretty background pictures, and all info related to one thing arranged in a logical progression. At present the info is there, it just sometimes takes a while to find. Re the pretty picture backgrounds, the reason I dislike them is that they delay loading pages if you are on a slow connection, which often happens when you are out in the field looking for information. Why am I on the site in the first place? For information! I actually don't need a picture of an installation using that product. If I want to see installation pictures, they should all be in a gallery, which is a much better way of doing things anyway. cheers, AUs
  19. Without looking at your program, your screenshots show some things that appear odd to me. Why the use of SB13 on socket 3? Are you changing that socket often? It appears that you are using a set/reset system of latches to do your calling, but what runs/sequences them in the first place. To me you are likely getting clashes in everything where the plc doesn't know what to do, or can't do it when asked. I'd go back to basics and simply do one thing at a time. Get the link going first and then build on that. cheers, Aus
  20. That's excellent, Kratmel! Ahhh..... the good old days where you'd get to the last W95 disc and it was corrupted! Remember DOS all on one? 🥳 Cheers, Aus
  21. Michal, that's today's laugh in itself! cheers, Aus
  22. Also possibly the old chestnut....did you install Visilogic using right click run as admin and also ensure the visilogic.exe is set to run as administrator as well? cheers, Aus
  23. I was with my mate in his new environmentally friendly car when I heard a squeak coming from behind the dashboard. “What’s that?" I asked. "It doesn’t sound right". “That’s Martina, my rodent directional device" he proudly said. "It squeaks once for left, twice for right and three times when you've arrived. It's incredibly accurate." I asked "And what's with the huge box of strawberry meringue on the back seat?” “That's what it eats. Martina Nav Rats Pavlova". Don't ask where I get these from, there's lots more.
  24. Does this mean you have never experienced it at all until trying it on W10? Or have you used it successfully on other Windows versions? Your statement "this is the same configuration i used on all of other applications" implies this. But maybe you are meaning you have used the same configuration in totally different PLC programs. In essence I am asking did you have Visilogic running OK on previous versions of Windows? If you did, can you go back to those versions easily to use what worked then? The reason I am focussing on possible prior usage is that W10 has all sorts of restrictions on network behaviour that sometimes have to be adjusted to suit. Also some A/V programs need adjustment as well. You don't get any errors during the installation process, you can get errors during that actual use of the program. Re Flex's questions, they might just be you having translation issues? Intranet = local network connections. Internet = the big wide world. If you connected to the PLC ok before just using your local network....your "Intranet".....then it won't connect using the same settings if you try to connect via the Internet. cheers, Aus
