Unistream don't acknowledge the DOK (USB)

Hi,
I have been working with Unistream for a couple of months, and I can say that is a Interesting and competitive platform, but now I am stuck with something, the PLC don´t recognized the DOK, any DOK (2GB,4GB,8GB,16GB), I can’t Upgrade the PLC (It is necessary to use Unilogic 1.5). I tried to export the application to the DOK and there is an error, the DOK is not mounted.

The DOK  is formatted (FAT32) and empty, I tried with different CPU, with different DOK´s, but it dont works. The HMI don't recognized the DOK.

Any Idea About That?.

Thanks a lot from Mexico,

Hello,

Finally, I managed to deal with this problem.
Initially I tried one 8GB usb stick, and then one 4GB stick - negative result.

After that,  I split the 4GB stick in two partitions. The size of partition that worked for me after several trials is approx. 1.5GB and FAT32 file system.

I have the same problem with 8GB and 32GB SD cards.  Is there an explanation for the error?

When I plug a new, formatted or un-formatted SD card, go directly to the export screen and I get the DOK error.

I have not tried with a USB stick.

Also interesting is that when I try to export the program from UniLogic to a USB device, I get an error with an 8GB card that there was insufficient space on the device.  I re-tried with a 32GB card and was successful, however the resulting file was only 212kB in size.

I have the same problem. I tried to update the firmware of my unistream controller with usb memory stick.

The panel does not recognize the usb memory stick. I tried 2 different memory sticks with a capacity of 8 GB formatted in fat32. Both did not work.

Is there anything to take care of? Do the memory sticks need special formatting to be recognized by the unistream controller?

I also tried to save the application to the dok (via uni apps), to crosscheck if the usb memory stick is recognized. But i always got the error "DOK COULD NOT BE FOUND"

Any Ideas?

Hi AjaS,

There is a lot of time pass since last post.

Can you explain your problem with more details?

- SD/Disk on key size.

- Number of partitions.

- Partitions format.

- UniLogic version you use.

- Windows version you use.

- Does IT department limit PC access to only for sertified by IP SD/Disk on key?

- Sequence of operations you doing.

- At what step and what error appear?

Hi AjaS,

Can you explain your problem with more details?

- SD/Disk on key size.

16 GB, 8 GB, 4 GB all blank, formatted before use

- Number of partitions.

1024,4096

- Partitions format.

all FAT32

- UniLogic version you use.

1.25 rev 48 in one PLC that works. Now, I wanted to download this project to never used PLC (the same type) version 1.23 rev 40. It asked for update.

- Windows version you use.

VM of Win 7 Enterprise, service pack 1

- Does IT department limit PC access to only for sertified by IP SD/Disk on key?

no limitation

- Sequence of operations you doing.

1. Click Firmware Manager to locate all firmware files on your PC.

2.Chosen firmware Copy to DOK (already blank and formatted). It offers "Save Firmware Files to USB device"

3. It takes a while and it is saved to DOK: "The firmware files were successfully copied to USB stick. Plug the stick to UniStream USB port, open UniApps->Upgrades and select upgrade PLC". Then I insert the USB to USB host.

- At what step and what error appear?

Then HMI/PLC screen -> Upgrades-> System-> Upgrade PLC (forced and also unforced), error: "The PLC upgrades do not match or could not be found. Please verify that required files are available and try again"

It took 5 different USBs with range 4GB to 16GB. I followed the same procedure, step by step. The USB that worked was ANOTHER FAT 32 16GB but with 8,168 partitions. I have no idea why it has decided to work this time...

AjaS,

There may be number of conditions leading to problems with SD/Disk on key mount and read at PC and UniStream PLC.
*This example processed with 8 GB SD card and SD to USB adapter
*If you have important files at SD/Disk on key - make backup.
1. If use Virtual Machine.
Please check that selected USB port is linked to this VM
2. Open DOS prompt (Administrative) at VM.
3. Run "diskpart"
4. Enter "list disk". This command will list disks at your Windows VM.
DISKPART> list disk

Disk ###  Status         Size     Free     Dyn  Gpt
  --------  -------------  -------  -------  ---  ---
  Disk 0    Online          465 GB      0 B
  Disk 1    Online          931 GB      0 B

For example, you have 2 disks, as listed.
5. Insert your SD/Disk on key to linked to this VM USB or SD slot.
6. Enter "list disk". This command will list disks at your Windows VM.
DISKPART> list disk

Disk ###  Status         Size     Free     Dyn  Gpt
  --------  -------------  -------  -------  ---  ---
  Disk 0    Online          465 GB      0 B
  Disk 1    Online          931 GB      0 B
* Disk 2    Online         7580 MB      0 B

New disk should be listed. If new disk is not listed, than there is a problem you should solve by IT.
7. Suppose that a new disk listed.
Enter "select disk 2".
8. Enter "list partition"

DISKPART> list partition

  Partition ###  Type              Size     Offset
  -------------  ----------------  -------  -------
* Partition 1    Primary           7580 MB      0 B

Offset should not be 0 B

9. Enter "clean"
DISKPART> clean

This will clean partition information from selected disk. TAKE CARE TO SELECT new listed disk.
EVERYTHING will be deleted from selected disk.

This will take some time to prosess.

Be patient.

10. When finished, message will be displayed:
DISKPART> clean

DiskPart succeeded in cleaning the disk.

11. Enter "list disk".
DISKPART> list disk

Disk ###  Status         Size     Free     Dyn  Gpt
  --------  -------------  -------  -------  ---  ---
  Disk 0    Online          465 GB      0 B
  Disk 1    Online          931 GB      0 B
* Disk 2    Online         7580 MB      0 B

New disk should be listed and marked by *.
12. Suppose that a new disk listed.
Enter "select disk 2".
13. Enter "list partition"
DISKPART> list partition

There are no partitions on this disk to show.

14. Enter "create partition primary"
DISKPART> create partition primary

DiskPart succeeded in creating the specified partition.

15. Enter "list partition"

DISKPART> list partition

  Partition ###  Type              Size     Offset
  -------------  ----------------  -------  -------
* Partition 1    Primary           7579 MB  1024 KB

Offset should not be 0 B

16. Enter "detail partition"
DISKPART> detail partition

Partition 1
Type  : 06
Hidden: No
Active: No
Offset in Bytes: 1048576

Volume ###  Ltr  Label        Fs     Type        Size     Status     Info
  ----------  ---  -----------  -----  ----------  -------  ---------  --------
* Volume 4     E                RAW    Removable   7579 MB  Healthy

File system is RAW (not formatted)

17. Format new disk from VM Windows File Explorer with cluster size 4096.
18. Enter "detail partition"
DISKPART> detail partition

Partition 1
Type  : 0B
Hidden: No
Active: No
Offset in Bytes: 1048576

Volume ###  Ltr  Label        Fs     Type        Size     Status     Info
  ----------  ---  -----------  -----  ----------  -------  ---------  --------
* Volume 4     E                FAT32  Removable   7579 MB  Healthy

File system is FAT32

19. Enter "exit"to close diskpart.

DISKPART> exit

Leaving DiskPart...

C:\>

20. You can close DOS prompt.
21. Eject SD/Disk on key from OS and detach it from PC USB port.
22. Insert SD/Disk on key to SAD slot or to USB connector at PLC.
23. Go to UniApps at PLC.
24. Select Memory->File Browser.
25. For SD card you can see list of default directories.
26. For Dosk on key DOK you can see list of files or directories, if presented.

Hope this helps to make SD/Disk on key working.

B.R.
