I have successfully autotuned and run a PID loop without any I/O attached by varying the analog input by hand. The resulting PID values would not work in the real world, but I was able to test to make sure the PID loop was set up correctly. The PID values can be calculated by the autotune process or you can enter them manually. You have either or both options available to you. You don't need an oscilloscope to see analog output. Just go online and look at the MI operand attached to the analog output. By the way, there are example projects that came with your VisiLogic installation that include an example for PID loops. Take a look at that and see if your PID is set up correctly.

To my knowledge, Mail.com uses SSL. You cannot send email through mail.com using a Vision product.

Ugh, it's so easy to lose track of which forum I'm in. You are, of course, correct.

Joe is correct, but also keep in mind that the ability to Ping the PLC does not tell you if the Port assignments are correct.

The unauthorized download access would need to know the PLC Name. Think of that like a password.

Make sure you've got all the assigned ports correct and appropriately forwarded. Do you have both port 3335 and 22 forwarded to the PLC?

Sounds like this is the key for UniStream. It's unnecessary for Vision (though SI 101 can play a role).

I'm at a loss here. Are we mixing up the terms UniStream and UniLogic? @GonzaloRoldan_, says he agrees with @Ausman, but still sounds like he wants to go from his laptop to the UniStream PLC using the UniLogic software. What I have done many times is download a program from my computer over the internet to a Vision PLC using VisiLogic. I have done this with PLCs as far away as 8,500 miles (Dallas, TX to Brisbane, Australia). It helps to increase the value of SI 101 first.

Did you try the HMI element called "Time Function"?

I do this all the time with Vision PLCs. I can't imagine not being able to with UniStream. Did you try it?

Maybe a little off-topic, but I need to have redundant power supplies (24V for the PLC) in a system. What is the best approach to this? Two power supplies running all the time in parallel or a relay that switches when a power supply fails? I'm not sure the relay would be fast enough to prevent the PLC and other related 24V hardware from going down. Any education in this area would be greatly appreciated. @Joe Tauser, do you have relevant experience with this?

Thanks, @kratmel. The person in the Forum post I mentioned was French, so this makes some sense. Apparently Unitronics was able to obtain radio electronics approval in France but didn't pursue anywhere else.

Good thought, @viscoelastic, though it looks like I'd have to obtain 5V.
