infkawu
Hi, Im currently working on a project with a M91-2-T38. The Enter HMI button does not work. I've thought of having external button connected to the INPUT port of the PLC, and using it (in software) to act as the key in the HMI keyboard (see attached image). Is it possible to assign the function of the Enter HMI button to an input? Thanks In Advance KaWu
MVP 2022 Ausman Posted September 15, 2018 MVP 2022 Report Share Posted September 15, 2018 Hmmm....don't know but don't think so. I don't have an M91 to try this on, so have you tried on yours and did it work? cheers, Aus
John_R
I just tried this on an M91 I have sitting on my bench. although I tried assigning a different SB key to trigger the Enter that did not work.... I imagine the same would hold true for an input...
infkawu
Hi Ausman, Yes i tried, but it didn't work. I couldn't set coil. I read this post https://unitronicsplc.com/Download/SoftwareHelp/VisiLogic_Knowledgebase/Ladder/Operands/System_Operands_(SI)_(SL)_(SB)_(SDW).htm I think I can't use SB53 as output. So my question is, is there other way to assign the function of the Enter HMI button to an input? Thanks In Advance KaWu
John_R
just add your external "enter" input in parallel with the existing enter key
MVP 2022 Flex727 Posted September 17, 2018 MVP 2022 Report Share Posted September 17, 2018 JohnR, I think the problem is that you need the actual Enter key when trying to enter a numeric variable and similar items. If that's the case, the only answer may be repair or replace (likely replace).

John_R
Yep Flex, yer probably right, I didn't think about the Keypad Variables, the U90 logic is so basic I usually use them when I just need a simple control with minimum user interface, for anything with user entries I usually step up to a V120. The repair part is tough to get, although I do have some of the M91 membrane keypads (M90-KEYPAD ?) that JoeT managed to get me a few years back when I had a M91 in an awkward location and it kept getting damaged. I'm thinking we paid around $30 for the keypad, a lot cheaper than $400 for a new T38 Johnr
MVP 2022 kratmel Posted September 17, 2018 MVP 2022 Report Share Posted September 17, 2018 Sometimes it is necessary to do repairs when there are no original spare parts or they arrive for a long time. You reminded me about the Enter key.Machine Amada - Enter completely destroyed.Temporary solution - the external button is soldered to the corresponding matrix keypad conductors. This may be a solution when it's impossible to fix the programHowever, definitely 5 hours ago, JohnR said: I'm thinking we paid around $30 for the keypad, a lot cheaper

2rlp
You may be able to achieve the desired by using SB39. I dont have a M91, so cannot confirm
