  1. You keep on mentioning a virtual terminal and command protocol. Is this just a language translation thing, in that it may be your way of describing your connection. So.....Are you using a direct single cable physical connection from your PC to the PLC using U90? Or is it indeed going via a virtual terminal which means the signal is undergoing software translation of some sort, with the possiblity that something is getting lost in the process? If it is a virtual terminal then you need to try it direct. cheers, Aus
  2. Before I found this post I followed up on a private message with Arnor & Stembera, suggesting how to go about contacting support about this issue. We'll wait and see what happens, unless someone has some fresh thoughts on why it occurs. Edit As it is happening at the plc and not just during remote work, it is likely a bug. I incorrectly interpreted the photos in the message.....had what they were back to front. Bug is in RO. cheers, Aus
  3. Also ensure if you do the uninstall/reinstall to run the install as right click/ run as admin, and once installed also set the .exe to run as admin.
  4. Puzzling. Ensure that the cable is ok....actually try another two. Ensure that the Windows com port settings exactly match those of the plc. I have had instances where things don't work if Windows isn't told, directly at the com port settings, what it should be doing. Failing that, perhaps Uninstall U90 and all associated drivers and start again. cheers, Aus
  5. Joe, that is a great page at B+B, and a great section it is in. In all the time I've occasionally used their products I've never even noticed the "learning center". cheers, Aus
  6. Aren't you doing just that? So on one hand you are saying there should only be a single connection to the LH rail allowed by the software, yet when Flex does this the most practical way you complain about it???? And you also say rung 9 will work just fine, going against your advice? Flex sugggested separating the rungs out but also offered alternatives. Discussion is welcomed on the forum, but nitpicking using conflicting statements within a post is not very helpful to anyone. cheers, Aus
  7. You might want to look at this post and read the entire topic . It might be of use to you, or at least point you in the right direction. It all depends on how many pulses you get per given flow amount. Cheers, Aus
  8. "Pulsed analog" might refer to the way the meter works and reads in the first place. My understanding of them is that they are essentially measuring distortion, so perhaps that would be an analogue reading done every pulsed time. This is then interpreted internally to give you whatever user output you want to utilise. For precise checking of the flow rates, though, I'd log all your readings and try to tally this against consumption deduced from other indicators. ie changing tank levels with just this one is in use. I'm always wary of salesman/woman gobbledeegook. Many haven't got a clue. Time and again I've had to figure something out that is nothing like what it was meant to be. And to make matters worse, I've often found manuals just the same, with incorrect info...often from big name makers, too. cheers, Aus
  9. Checking that you did use "Install USB Driver" .....U90Ladder/Controller/M90 OPLC Settings/middle of bottom buttons? Do you pull your car completely apart if it has simply run out of fuel? Probably not! ? This will likely be something just as simple! cheers, Aus
  10. What windows are you using? Is there a restore point available that might get you back to a better system? Also, in case the version you are using does not have the capability built in, you have to right click/ Run as Administrator the installation file and also set the .exe to Run as Admin once it is installed. Revo normally gets rid of everything, but if the above install tips don't work, you might be faced with manually deleting anything you can find relating to Visilogic in your folders and registry. Try the easy options first and let us know. cheers, Aus
  11. I agree with everything Cam has said. My limited experiences of this sort of thing is that it can be a total pain in the butt. However, at the PC end you may be able to implement a virtual port instead of another converter. I have had limited success using such software, what works fine on one plc brand won't even try on another type. For anything you do, I would first try to connect with various methods using Remote Operator directly on the network where the plc is located. If you can get it going ok there, it should be easy to do some router work to let remote connections occur. cheers, Aus
  12. Agree with Cam, it appears that you have forces in place. These are done when online by left click in the yellow area of the operand in the ladder, and then right click on the Set box in the little window that then opens. Right click brings up a choice of force options. Running forces can cause all sorts of odd issues and must be done carefully, not only in unitronics equipment but all plcs in general. Also, if the ladderwork is in a subroutine, ensure that you have actually called it. Visilogic has a major quirk/fault/problem in that it shows red colours (which imply active power) in routines that are NOT actually being called. cheers, Aus
  13. What do the com parameters show by accessing Info mode? cheers, Aus
  14. Come on Creators! An answer/comment please! Are you there, @Cara Bereck Levy? cheers, Aus
  15. PS...of course....make sure you uninstall it completely before starting again using run as admin.
  16. https://unitronicsplc.com/Download/SoftwareUtilities/DataXportSetup_3_1_Build22.exe Found under the listings at the bottom of this page: https://unitronicsplc.com/software-visilogic-for-programmable-controllers/ cheers, Aus
  17. Hi Dimitri, did you install Remote Access using right click run as Admin? And afterwards have made the program itself a run as admin exe using compatibility mode settings? Try this and see how it all goes and report back. cheers, Aus
  18. Alternatively do some maths before your overflow condition is reached, with the "tipping point" then adding 1 to another DW which is the count for the much larger amount, and then resetting the primary count to 0. Depending on how quickly this all happens, sometimes you even cascade this sort of thing down through a series of DWs. I arrange the maths so that the cascaded DWs etc are all in simple to work with numbers, like exactly 1,000,000,000. Each time this condition is met at the primary count, the +1 addition is done to the next DW and the primary count is reset to 0 and starts again. So you might end up with primary of 984,455,654 and the next one in line being 123,456 which means your total count is 984,455,654 + (1,000,000,000 X 123,456) = 123,456,984,455,654. The final maths is done in whatever external program is used to monitor the results, but doing things the way I have said above also makes it easy to do things in your head if necessary. cheers, Aus
  19. I'll think about this and respond when I have more time, but I have to ask the question why don't you want to use different keypad numbers to activate a timer matched to that number? I can see all sorts of issues arising with what you want to do, especially with things getting very confusing for the screen user. cheers, Aus
  20. Flex, that is a good idea to have the version displayed in the user program itself, I keep them in my rolling update excel sheet which has limitations. And it appears that you are running two instances of some versions? For those that don't know, this is a very useful thing to have available. Full details and other things that you can do with this capability are here: cheers, Aus
  21. Swapper can work in any connection scenario the version you are using is capable of doing. I know that's a bit roundabout, but some connection systems have improved over the years. But given the age of your system, the method you are currently using should be ok. Bottom is a scrnshot of what I was talking about if you get the update message. This arises if the program you are opening was actually made in an older version of Visilogic, and an update is deemed necessary by the newer version in use. It pretty much tells you everything, but especially of note is the bit I have highlighted, which is the version that was used to create the program being opened. This lets you match up Swapper very easily. You will need a copy of your original program if using swapper....not the upgraded one. If you have never used swapper I suggest you read this post (and topic) thoroughly to get a full understanding of it, and how I implement it: cheers, Aus
  22. Hi Mal, I feel sure that it will be related to the OS update. But I haven't ever worked with a 1210, so one question to answer before Joe or others chime in is whether you've tried to reload the old OS (you mentioned it was 4.0(19) ) and did this cure things? And have you ever had a message during opening your program in Visilogic that it would be updated? These quirks are one of the reasons Version Swapper exists. As Flex often says, if it ain't broke, don't fix it......if a unit is working ok on OS "X" and Visi "Y" etc, then there is no need to update anything. Use Swapper for any mods needed. But as you were chasing something unusual you are temporarily exempted from that rule! cheers, Aus
  23. Glad you checked, I thought you had missed my earlier suggestion of doing this. To me it sounds like either a dud RTC component, or a dud solder or track issue onto the RTC chip's power. If the RTC is part of the main chip, then the same sort of thing but onto this chip instead. Definitely, now! cheers, Aus
  24. Thanks Dan, this is just what I was originally on about to check, but without a unit to physically look at, and being unable to have Mal's unit in my hand made it hard. Hopefully it will help resolve the issue. I am still believing it is a fault somewhere, and your info lends weight to this idea as it shows that there are a few connections involved, any of which could be suspect. Unlike other layouts where it is only insertion pins connecting, or the battery is directly on the board. cheers, Aus
