  1. I'm going to run this OS issue discussion over into a new topic about possible ways around the limitiations. cheers, Aus
  2. Ahh yes, Joe. But if the OS could be modded to suit that need, would it not do the job? cheers, Aus
  3. A little off topic, but this is another area where the firmware in the plc could be changed to accommodate more modern needs if some of the "never used" bloatware was removed. The decision needs to be made one way or the other......either use the Links & Jumps assignments, or the HMI display loaded system, but not both. Apparently the lack of modern things is due to no more room available at the firmware-chip-inn, so my greatest wish for some time has been for the creators to revisit things and go through all the Vision system's older quirks. They should get rid of the myriad useless stuff that no-one uses eg Add/Mult/Div/Sub 3 x1, 4x1 etc, add in more modern needs and then put a big notice on that update that it "most definitely will not work with older programs" blah blah. One thing that springs to mind would be the ability to have secure connections. Perhaps another way to achieve this would be to change the chip on the board to one with much larger capacity if that is indeed the issue. But sadly it seems that good old Vision is not being concentrated on anymore, it is Unistream. In some ways this is a very anti-client path to be going down, given what Unitronics current status was built on and is apparently still the prominent seller. The world is littered with the gravesites of companies that have ignored the things users want and have concentrated on the "latest and greatest". If my $500 machine could still do the job with some minor improvements, there would be no need to change it into a $2500 machine that I won't sell! cheers, Aus
  4. You do know you have asked this question on a specialised PLC control forum, don't you?!! This is not really a PC forum. That missing "L" makes a world of difference. However, to answer your question, you need the installer program and also any specific licence detail to load your various programs on your new PC. Alternatively, research "sysprep" and see if this might meet your needs. But generally in a "single" computer scenario the best option is going from a "virgin" operating system that is fully loaded with all drivers working correctly, and then adding everything you need to it. Depending on how many programs you have to have on your system, this can be a long and involved process. I normally load all my high use programs, and then install my others as the need arises. And I always make progressive full system backups along the way. cheers, Aus
  5. Well....the title says it all. I hope that everyone on the forum has an enjoyable, friendly, program-bug-free next 365 days. cheers, Aus
  6. Very cute, Isak! How is the night job coming along being a standup comic? And yes, Joe, that was a head scratcher. cheers, Aus
  7. Craig, I deleted your repeat post. All posts on this forum are subject to a moderator checking the post before it is made public, so if you think your post hasn't been registered correctly, it is just the innate delay waiting for a moderator to look at it. Please keep this in mind. cheers, Aus
  8. Craig please do not do double posts. All posts on this forum are subject to moderation, so if you think your post hasn't been registered correctly, it is just the innate delay waiting for a moderator to look at it. Your other topic you have started labelled Unitronics V350_J-R34 will be the one for everyone to work from to help with your questions. cheers, Aus
  9. This is curious behaviour, isn't it? I have had a few instances of cheap devices that don't have correctly configured power inputs, and the things won't power up properly. In nearly all the cases, the simple addition of a 100v MKT capacitor of around 150nF, in parallel across the power line at the device's connection, has cured the issues. It would seem that shortcuts are taken on building the pcbs....costs? I have had devices not even power up on a perfectly matched voltage battery....as pure DC volts as you can get....yet the capacitor fixed this. Sometimes electrical behaviour is very head scratching! cheers, Aus
  10. That's OK. I'll send you my Xmas invoice for making your systems so much better! 😉 cheers, Aus
  11. You can roll back the OS, but you obviously need the relevant file to work with. I can't remember this exactly, but I think all the matching O/S to the current version are in the Visilogic_C/Data folder. In theory you can also add into this at will, and the O/S will show up in the list. To me the easiest thing would be to (perhaps) do a system partition copy as a backup in case of something going completely wrong, uninstall the new version, reinstall the one you used and go from there. Contact support@unitronics.com . They can probably also give you the O/S easily, but I'd go the version you used path as above. And also learn about Version Swapper, by reading all the topic that is pinned. It is the reason it exists. cheers, Aus
  12. A V130-33-B1 (or the flat fascia version) fitted with V100-17-RS4 or V100-17-RS4X (for the extra port) would do nicely as the subs. cheers, Aus
  13. Hi Arnor, have you done an Initialise and Reset? And why change the Visi version and firmware? If it ain't broke, don't fix it!! cheers, Aus
  14. Well...you could always do a test of more than 32 on your testbench and see if it works! But in this case I think it will be correct. However, I get the feeling that what you are essentially doing is a BAS. Futher to my suggestions, you could retain all your current infrastructure by having my "sub-masters" plcs on each building level/major location, gathering data via the existing 485 network on that level, then holding that collated data until read by the Unistream via another 485 port on the subs. This way you would not need significant changes to the exisiting wiring topology. It would almost be a case of a few cuts and splices on each building level. (And it sounds like a bit of a hodgepodge wiring setup anyway, with the topology being "non-standard"! 🤣 It is surprising how tolerant 485 can be at times. I've seen all sorts of odd connections that work. And I've also seen the ones that are perfect and have issues! Go figure. ) The only real difference would be the need to have the collating plcs having 2 x 485 ports, the ability to poll all the other the little plcs on that level and collate that data ready for transmission to Earth Central. Edit PS.....And something else is a Winner, you lose the need for so many 02RSCs. Hmmmm!!! That might pay for the different Subs! cheers, Aus
  15. New, much better information now added further down. 12th May 2021. Hi all, I recently asked the creators the question, and the list below was forthcoming. It makes things a little easier to get onto the correct version of Visilogic using Swapper if you are working on an unknown program, as you can find the O/S fairly easily whilst online. Flex suggests that good programmers always put the Visi and O/S versions somewhere within their .vlp!! Well......sometimes we excellent programmers on this forum fail to make things easier for when we've forgotten what we did years ago! Or have somehow inconveniently lost a crucial file that lists such things! cheers, Aus
  16. I can't open that file, what version of Visi have you done it in? cheers, Aus
  17. OK, but now I'm confused because in your first post you say And I wasn't meaning change all your little plcs to a different type, just have a few dedicated different units acting as the intermediarys. They run through their polling, collate the results into something far more usable and concise, and then send that to the master when requested. cheers, Aus
  18. Hi Hots, long time no hear. On the buzzer, your issue might be related to as discussed in this post. I don't know whether the delay issue is fixed or not: On the rest of your question, it is for someone else! cheers, Aus
  19. Uhmmmmm. Don't forget only "Up to 32" nodes on the 2RSC. I'd actually look at having other plcs acting as "sub-masters", that then report their results to the Master via another protocol. Effectively cascade it all. This might actually make things easier to implement. Just a thought. cheers, Aus
  20. Ok Gabriel, time for me to learn something. Serial comm monitor in Vision? Has this been staring me in the face for years without noticing it? cheers, Aus
  21. Hi Oris, you haven't answered Joe's question as to "local network or from the outside world?" This can be an important issue for the client, and there are pros and cons. Remote access or Remote Operator will both do what you want, they display the HMI screens on the viewing computer. Interaction via buttons is also available, with nearly all operations possible. This needs to be taken into account......do you want viewers to have full operational access? Using a browser is possible, is done within your .vlp and lets you set up a "website" that you can arrange however you want, but in this case I think you are wanting the programs I mentioned above. I personally prefer Remote Access, but others like Remote Operator. Each has it's own merits. On the ethernet port, you could go the other way of a serial to ethernet (external supplier) adapter, which work quite well, but it is generally much easier, similar cost and simpler to fit the ethernet card. Also, when looking for whether there is an ethernet card fitted on any Vision PLC, do not confuse the expansion port with an ethernet port. If you can't visually check, use Info mode and if there is no card it will show this....by not showing things! cheers, Aus
  22. I was following this up on the install guide for the 350, and it is it just the edition I'm looking at or is there an error in the HSC input wiring diagrams? If so, make sure you've got it right. And also, why use the resistor at all when the plc can be set appropriately? And the model question related to what size and max flow rate expected, which in turn will say max Hz. cheers, Aus.
  23. So does this mean the laptop is in a docking station with multi monitors running from it? And therefore the computer is travelling with different numbers of monitors, so it might not be the saved .vlp? I am intrigued about this. I'm back on my 2 monitor system and have noticed that all my multiple instances display in ways that I have got used to, with persistent annoyances being minor and so I've just dismissed them as "let that one go, Aus!" They always open full screen to the primary monitor, but when I move things around the only dialog that doesn' t follow properly is the mini online control box that pops up when in online mode, it always opens on the RHS of the primary monitor, but not always in the same place. cheers, Aus
  24. Wow! It must be Christmas with everyone full of goodwill! All good suggestions there! And I notice Isakovic must have been having a hard time at the computer with the change of avatar. cheers, Aus
